Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was reunited with her husband and family on March 23, 2010 at the Bel Air Assisted Living Center.
Nadine was born in Springville, Utah on September 20, 1925 to Albert William and Esther Burton Harmer
She was raised and attended schools in Springville High School in the class of 1943. She also attended Brigham Young University.
Nadine met Norman Smith while they were in High School and while he was serving in the Military in WWII, she worked at the Springville Telephone Office and later at Duke Jewelry in Springville. Norman and Nadine were married June 1, 1946 in Provo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on July 22, 1959.
Nadine loved being a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She served in many callings in the church and enjoyed her associations there. She enjoyed homemaking tasks and her home was a place of beauty and peace.
After Norm's retirement, they moved to Salina, Utah and continued to collect friends, spending many hours sightseeing and visiting friends around the area. One of the highlights of their retirement was the weekly trips to Utah County to visit and eat at "Chuck a Rama".
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Gary Swenson); Son, Jeff (Brenda Smith); grandchildren: Matt and Diana Swenson, Brittany and David Gray, Amber and Aaron Loosli, Dan and Shelly Swenson, Mike and Suzanna Smith, Shalon and Dustin Peay, Kylee Smith, 21 great-grandchildren, sister in-law Melba Brady of Oregon and sister in law Shirley Smith of Springville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, her father and mother, and 11 brother's and sisters.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bel Air Assisted Living Center and the Sunbrook Hospice for their loving care of our mother. Also a special thanks to Chris Kravits and the neighbors and friends in Salina for everyday love and support for Norm and Nadine.
