Murray Francis Allen

April 22, 1922 — July 28, 2010

Murray was born in Garfield, Utah. His parents were Frank Wm. and Edna Wyatt Allen. He is survived by his wife, Wanda North Allen; a sister, Charlotte Larsen; four children: Kristine Wilde (John), Murray Michael (Suzette), Frank Owen (Kathy), and Leon Boyd (Maura); 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.



Murray lived later in South Salt Lake and attended Granite High School in 1940 where he met his future wife, Wanda North, daughter of Owen L. North and Nora Wright North. Wanda was his devoted sweetheart and life long companion, and still is!



Murray was an educator for over forty years. He certified with degrees from the U of U and BYU. He was a teacher and administrator in Jordon School district for twenty years, and an associate professor at BYU for twenty years. He served with great pride and satisfaction in these areas.



During World War II, Murray proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. with service in the Western Pacific. He enlisted in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. Prior to going to war, he married his high school sweetheart Wanda in a Marine Corps. Military wedding. They have been married 66 wonderful years. In 1962, he joined the LDS Church. A year later, his marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.



Murray always loved scouting and he happily devoted twenty-five years in this program, mostly as a scoutmaster. In 1966 he was awarded the Silver Beaver at the tabernacle by President Thomas S. Monson.



After joining the LDS Church, his services included high counselor, executive secretary, bishop's counselor, and bishop. He was branch president, serving with his wife at the MTC. He is currently a member of the Kolob 1st Ward of the Springville Stake.



Murray's family has always been his greatest and most loving concern. He has always been very proud of them and totally committed to their needs and welfare!



Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 at 1p.m. in the Kolob Stake Center, 1230 S. 500 E., in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville or Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Larking Sunset Gardens in Sandy.
