Michael J. Huffaker, 68, of Springville, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 6, surrounded by his family. He was born December 16, 1956, in Los Angeles, California to Phildon Carlson and Donna Lee Huffaker. He married Shana Lenore Chambers on June 22, 1984 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
Mike grew up in Santa Monica, California. He enjoyed camping and backpacking with his family. He loved surfing and building his dune buggy with his father. He attended school there and graduated from Santa Monica High School where he was a member of the marching band. He continued his education at Brigham Young University where he graduated with a degree in Construction Management. This is where he later met his wife, Shana.
To Mike, family was always a priority. He loved spending time with his wife and children and he adored his grandchildren. He was a master craftsman at plumbing and building. He had a talent for finding and repairing a problem that others couldn’t. He owned his own business and had many customers he considered friends. He enjoyed watching movies, four wheeling, skiing, trips to Disney, and playing his guitar. He loved attending events his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Mike loved the savior. His testimony was strong and unwavering. Even during his struggles with dementia, he still testified of the savior. His smile said it all. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving in the church. He served a mission in Calgary, Canada. He served as counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, Young Men’s president, Sunday School president, and Scoutmaster. He also loved serving in the Provo City Center Temple.
