Merlin John Fox

April 16, 1925 — July 14, 2009

Merlin John Fox, 84 of Springville passed away peacefully on July 14, 2009, in Provo, Utah. He was born in Springville, Utah on April 16, 1925 to John A. Fox and Margaret Chloe Boyer. He Married Jean Miner on December 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.



After graduating from Springville High School, he spent several years farming and milking dairy cows, then spent the next 40 years in highway construction. He was a volunteer fireman for Springville Fire department and served a term as chief. He learned the lock smith trade before he retired and enjoyed it as a hobby. He was a hard worker and very creative in all of his projects. Merlin was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of literature.



He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and teacher. He was known as Frap by those who knew and loved him. He and Jean were members of a dinner group who met monthly since high school. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. He especially enjoyed his calling as a Branch President at the MTC and was a faithful home teacher.



Merlin is survived by his devoted wife, Jean, and three of his four children; Camille (Steve) Laker, Ogden; Cyndi (Michael) Green, Sandy; and Thomas (Jane), Pleasant Grove. He adored his 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Bruce and granddaughter Rachel.



The family would like to express our deepest thanks to the doctors and staff of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and Utah Valley Specialty Hospital. We especially give our thanks to Jane, Jeremy and Vicki for their unselfish care they gave our father.



Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel on 355 E. Center, Springville. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 8 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S. Springville and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Springville City Cemetery.
