Matthew Edward Ostler, a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 35. Born on April 17, 1988, in Orem, Utah to Phillip Donald Ostler and Sarah Frances Settle, Matt's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. On July 7, 2017, he united in eternal marriage with the love of his life, Nicole June Widmer, in the sacred halls of the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork.
Matt possessed an incredible array of interests and talents that brought joy to his life. A true food enthusiast, he relished dining out with loved ones and sharing meaningful conversations around the table. However, his true passion was in the great outdoors; whether he was hiking through picturesque mountains or basking in the tranquility of a campsite while grilling steak, Matt felt most alive amidst nature's embrace.
Music held a special place in Matt's heart as he found solace and inspiration within its melodies. Moreover, he had an unwavering love for technology and pursued his passion by enrolling in an online trade school for coding to become a full stack web developer. Throughout his educational journey, Matt attended several esteemed institutions such as Brigham Young University (BYU), Utah Valley University (UVU), University of Utah (U of U), and BYU-Idaho. In particular, he studied Health Psychology at BYU-Idaho before being accepted into the nursing program at U of U.
Before embarking on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Georgia Atlanta North Mission, Matt received his eagle scout award - a testament to his dedication and determination. His two-year mission was filled with selfless service and deep spiritual growth as he spread his love and faith to others. Matt's unwavering devotion to the Lord continued throughout his life, leading him to fulfill various callings within the Church including elders quorum president, Sunday school teacher, primary teacher, and an ordinance worker alongside his cherished wife at the Provo UT temple.
Matthew is survived by his adoring wife Nicole Ostler, his loving parents Phillip and Sarah Ostler, and his three dear sisters: Elizabeth Ostler, Deborah (Christopher) Ericson, and Rebekah (Andrew) Philipp. Additionally, he leaves behind ten nieces and nephews who were the light of his life.
A heartfelt celebration of Matthew's life will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 am in the American Fork 43rd ward chapel located at 240 S. Center Street American Fork, UT. A private viewing for family will be held that morning from 9:00-9:30 before opening its doors to all who wish to pay their respects from 9:30-10:30 am. Following the funeral services, Matt will find his final resting place in the serene Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
