Mary Ellen (Christensen) Snow

July 3, 1925 — November 17, 2016

Mary Ellen Christensen Snow, beloved sister, mother, grandmother,  great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016 in Provo, Utah. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, the eldest of 4 children, on July 3, 1925. Mary Ellen was named after both of her grandmothers.

Her youth and teenage years were spent in Flushing, New York and Summit, New Jersey. During WWII she helped with the war effort by working at Bell Laboratories in the drafting department; she loved to tell her grandchildren the story of how she knitted mittens for the soldiers.

Mary Ellen graduated from Brigham Young University with a double major in Education and Art. While attending BYU she met her sweetheart, Karl Anthony Snow (Tony) and they were married February 14, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mary Ellen was the mother of 6 children, 31 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. Her husband Tony worked for Marathon Oil Co. which took them to Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas.

Mary Ellen served faithfully in all auxiliaries of the LDS church and supported her husband as Bishop and Stake President . In 1978 they retired and moved to Mapleton, Utah where they enjoyed being near family and friends.

She was a member of Tamiris, Republican Women and DUP. She enjoyed sewing, reading, politics, art and BYU sports of all kinds. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and those who lived far away always looked forward  to coming and sleeping at Grandma's. Her home was known for its good food, horses to ride, games and movies and playing with cousins.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Carl J. and Alberta Huish Christensen, her dear husband, Karl Anthony (Tony) Snow and her brother, Carl H. Christensen.

She is survived by her sister, Bertie Peek (Chuck), brother, Jim (Carmel) Christensen, and her children Suzann (Doug) Swenson, Chris (Pam) Snow, Linda (Brett) Perkins, Robert (Liz) Snow, Russell (Anne) Snow, Kevin (Susan) Snow and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be missed until we meet again!

Funeral services will be held at the Mapleton Stake Center on 970 N 400 E in Mapleton, Utah on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11am. Viewing prior to service, 9:30-10:45am.
