On Valentine's Day 2010, Mary Methel Martin Griffin, age 88, joined her eternal sweetheart. She was born on October 21, 1921 in Marshville, North Carolina to Lilly Goldie Mills and Cletus Frederick Martin. Being raised on a farm, she had a unwavering work ethic that she used to always care for her family, the main priority in her life. In 1938, she graduated from Union High School and three years later, on February 7th, she married her high school sweetheart, James Warren Griffin. Years later they joined the LDS church and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They had one daughter, Vicky Elaine, who was their "perfect angel." Mary and Warren lived in Union County North Carolina for 47 years until they moved to Spanish Fork, Utah so they could be closer to their daughter Vicky and her family.
Mary was an active member of the LDS church working in her ward and as a temple worker at the Provo, UT temple. She loved to garden, cook, can vegetables and fruit, have family and friends over to visit. She took pride in keeping her home a house of order. Her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren where her pride and joy! She spent many hours caring for them, cooking for them and watching over their safety.
Mary is survived by her daughter Vicky Elaine Griffin Stover and her husband John E. Stover Jr.; her Grandchildren John E. Stover III, Sharon Elaine (Steve) Smith, Christopher Scott (Erika) Stover, Mary Ellen (Shad) Messick; her 11 Great Grandchildren; 2 sister's Addie Price, and Lucille Grant.
