MarVel Wilde Wolsey, 92, left her earthly home peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2008. She had been a resident of Art City Nursing and Rehabilitation in Springville, Utah where she was lovingly cared for during the past two years. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who helped MarVel in any way during her time there.
She was born June 26, 1916, the second of three children, to Charles Edwin and Ida Leone (Robey) Wilde in Provo, Utah, where she resided her entire life.
Her education was in Provo City schools and BYU. She received a commendation at graduation for having never missed a day of school. She worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney's for eight years and also for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Later she worked for Provo School District as secretary at Timpanogos Elementary School. She loved all the children there and they loved her.
On March 19, 1939 she married her sweetheart, Louis Marion Wolsey from Cardston, Alberta, Canada. They were married for 60 years.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions, including secretary and coordinator of the Junior Sunday School, and president of the Mutual Improvement Association. She enjoyed this work and the people involved.
Surviving are her daughter, MarLou and son-in-law, Ron Irvine, grandsons Jason (Suzie Mattinson), Todd (Tiffany Larsen), and Matt, as well as great grand children Riley, Tommy, Ambri, Milo, Madalyn, Lily, Megan and Jack.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Spring Creek 6th Ward Chapel, 860 East 200 North, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call Wednesday evening, October 29, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, or one hour prior to the service at the 6th Ward Chapel. Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery.
