Littlefield, AZ - Mark was born in Provo, Utah to Gloria Ruth Thorpe and Melvin Leo Whiting. He was raised most of his life in and around the Springville, UT. area and has since lived in Texas briefly and Arizona. He was one of 13 children, whole / half / step; it was family all the same to him. He had a love for food, computers, fishing, hunting, camping, gold mining, dirt bike / four wheeler riding and most importantly, family. He was employed by Springville City for 19 years. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, November 9th. He is preceded in death by his younger brother David Whiting, his father Melvin Whiting and his mother Ruth Thorpe, and his grandparents from both sides. He is survived by his stepmother Bessie Whiting, his eleven remaining siblings; Marcel, Rodney, Brent, Sarah, Abby, Mary, Linda, Elizabeth, Rose, Melvin Jr., Steven, his wife, Vicki Whiting, his children Seth and Cassidy Whiting and many more. He lived a life full of love for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is and was a loving father and will be deeply missed by all those who have been blessed to know him.
There will be a viewing on November 15th at 1:30 pm and funeral services to follow at 3:00 pm Mtn. time at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and in Littlefield, AZ. He will be transported to Springville, UT. on November 16th and a viewing will be held at Wheeler mortuary (211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah 84663) at 1:00 to 2:00 pm. He will be interred at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery following the viewing.
