Mark Shurtleff Robertson

September 19, 1924 — September 6, 2009

Mark Shurtleff Robertson, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, died peacefully at home on September 6, 2009 with his wife and other loved ones by his side. He was 84.



Mark was born to George Victor and Cornelia Lucile Shurtleff Robertson on September 19, 1924 in Ogden, Utah. As a boy, Mark learned from his father of Jesus Christ's atonement and resurrection. From that time, Mark had a strong testimony and faith, and he served his Savior throughout his life. He was a gentle, kind and considerate man.



Mark attended BYU, and then joined the Navy during WWII. He later received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico. Mark was an LDS missionary in Denmark 1947 50. He married Marilyn Groesbeck on January 24, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mark and Marilyn later served together in the Hamburg, Germany Mission 1993 1995. Other callings Mark accepted in the LDS Church include: bishopric counselor, genealogy teacher, stake seventy presidency, stake and assistant stake clerk (25 years), temple ordinance worker, and most important to him, home teacher.



As an electrical engineer, Mark worked at Boeing Aircraft in Washington State, U.S. Steel in Provo, and BYU.



Mark is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; daughters Mary Lu (Sam) Sellers, Gloria (Bob) DeWitt; sons James (Jamie) Robertson and Charles (Becky) Robertson; brother Don Robertson; sisters Sheronne Valentine, Lynette Robertson and Janell Cask; and 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Diane Hiatt.



Friends may call Friday evening, September 11, 6:00 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah or Saturday morning 9:45 10:45 at the church prior to services. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 11:00 am, in the Springville Stake Center, 245 South 600 East, Springville, Utah. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
