Mark George Roberts (52 years) of Spanish Fork, Utah, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born July 12, 1972, in Logan, Utah to James LaMoyne Roberts and Jeanette Harding Roberts. He married the love of his life, Rachel Lynn Barrett on July 20, 1995, in the Jordan River, Utah Temple.
Mark grew up in Bothwell, Tremonton, and Malad before his family later settled in Springville, Utah. He graduated from Springville High School in 1990. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lisbon, Portugal from 1991-1993. He served as Elders Quorum President and as a member of the Bishopric. He also served in many other capacities including Finance Clerk for many years, but his dream calling was to be the Sunday School Bell Ringer!
Mark worked in the dairy industry for the majority of his career where he made many lifelong partnerships and friends.
He was a devoted husband and the proud father of six precious children: Brittany (Chance) Erwin of Spanish Fork, Nathan, Jessica (Porter) Flake of Provo, Warren, Dallin and Emma. His family was the focus and joy of his life. He was also the beloved grandpa of two beautiful granddaughters.
Mark had a profound love for the scriptures and enjoyed having deep gospel conversations. The gospel was very real to him. He was a disciple of Jesus Christ, a master teacher and applied what he learned in his life.
Mark had a brilliant mind. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, and watching classic movies. He also enjoyed preparing family favorite dishes. Mark had a deep appreciation for the finer things in life, especially nice guns, knives, watches, pens, boots, and of course chocolate milk! He had beautiful penmanship and loved to write in his journal. Mark was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. He would always make us laugh.
Mark loved animals, especially dogs. In fact, he had 52 dogs in his lifetime! Two of his favorites were Bandit and Macey. Growing up he had many other animals including a gerbil, a parakeet, and a pig named Peepo.
He made family time a priority and made it a point to create family traditions. Rachel and Mark took their family on many vacations, day trips, and campouts. The family also looked forward to gathering for “Pizza Saturdays”.
He was the youngest of 6 siblings and is survived by his sister Lynette (and the late Gordon) Bodily of Cedar City, Utah, his sister Karen (and the late Dee) Rasmussen of McCammon, Idaho, his brother Doug (Teri) Roberts of West Jordan, Utah, his brother Brent (Ramona) Roberts of West Jordan, Utah, and his brother Boyd (Molly) Roberts of Nephi, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
In June of 2023, Mark was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). During the last months of his life, he fought valiantly and courageously. He never complained and humbly submitted to the will of the Lord by taking up the cross he was called to bear. His family is incredibly proud of the way he endured. He was never bitter or angry. He let this experience refine him and draw him closer to God. He was truly an example of living a Christlike life. This experience has unified us as a family. Though we miss him dearly, we know of a surety that we will be with him throughout eternity.
We would like to express appreciation to all the wonderful doctors and medical staff at Huntsman’s Cancer Institute. They went above and beyond in their care for Mark. We’re grateful for the friendships that were made while in their care.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to our family, friends, neighbors, and ward family. We have been tenderly ministered to and appreciate those who have helped us during this difficult time.
