Mark Dan Allen, 91, passed away with family by his side the morning of July 4, 2022, in Lehi, Utah. He was born February 5, 1931, in Maeser. Mark was the 4th of 5 children born to Nellie and Marion Allen. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1949 and joined the army as a paratrooper at the end of the Korean War. Mark attended college at Utah State before returning home. He met Elaine Massey in 1958 and followed her to Southern California. They were married July 26, 1958 and made their home in Garden Grove. Mark worked as a lather to support the family that included 3 children: Marlaine, Brian and Brent. He and Elaine returned to Vernal in their later years. Mark enjoyed serving with the American Legion and was also an active member of the local Rod and Gun Club. In 2010, they relocated south to Santa Clara, Utah. After Elaine’s death in 2012, he was a weekly temple patron. Mark moved north to Lehi Utah last December.
Mark Allen was beloved for his generosity, work ethic, honesty, and patriotism and love of family. All who met Mark, appreciated his wit and ready smile. He was a devoted husband and exceptional father and grandfather. While Mark worked hard, he knew how to play and enjoyed the outdoors including camping, motorcycle riding and boating. He will be remembered and revered for years to come.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the LDS Chapel located at 150 South Aggie Blvd, Vernal, with a viewing held from 1-1:30 pm prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, Vernal, Utah.
