Marilee Ann (Patterson) Larson, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 4, 2024. A lifelong resident of Sacramento, she spent the last year and a half of her life living in Mapleton, UT. She was born on May 10, 1960, to Edwin Patterson Sr. and Barbara Jean (Buckley) Patterson in Sacramento, CA.
Marilee grew up in an idyllic setting, on a small farm in Sacramento County. There she spent her days roaming the grounds, climbing trees and raising animals. She also looked up to and learned from her older brothers, Edwin Jr. and Bill. She was a friend to so many and maintained numerous lifelong friendships from her youth.
After a brief time in Utah as a college student, Marilee moved back home to Sacramento. There she met her sweetheart, Wess, at a dance. They each had an eye for the other and courted over a year in 1983-84. They married in the Oakland California temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 15, 1984. They walked together in life, side-by-side, for 40 years.
Marilee’s first profession and passion was travel. As a travel agent in the 1980s she helped book travel and vacations for thousands of people at both Clark Travel (Provo, UT) and Roseville Travel (Roseville, CA). She benefited from that herself and saw sites far and wide. After devoting herself to full-time motherhood for over 20 years, she returned to the workforce as an office administrator at Consolidated Electrical Distributors (Roseville, CA) before retiring in 2020.
Marilee served in many capacities as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as president and counselor of the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations in her ward and stake multiple times. She served as a teacher to many age groups and was a dedicated ministering sister to countless women in and out of her ward family. She also served as an ordinance worker in the Sacramento California Temple. At the time of her passing, she was serving with Wess as a branch missionary at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT.
Her greatest joy in life was to be grandma to her eleven grandchildren, Grace (12), Hunter (11), Chloe (9), Nettie (9), Ollie (9), Payton (6), Dylan (6), Noah (6), Henry (4), Madison (3), and Alvin (2). She prioritized celebrating birthdays and holidays with family and loved getting everyone together. Even in her last days, she was surrounded by everyone she loved and was afforded the tender mercy to say goodbye to them all.
Marilee is survived by her eternal companion, Wess and her four children: Kurtis (Ashley) Larson of Holland, MI, Melissa (Matt) Ott of Mapleton, UT, Scott Larson of Cheyenne, WY and Jake (Jayne) Larson of Meridian, ID; 11 grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents and in her last days looked forward with joy to their reunion.
