Marietta Jones Goforth of Orem, Utah left this life with dignity, into the arms of her Heavenly Father and many loved ones on January 11, 2010 at the Orem Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Marietta was born in Springville, Utah on February 16, 1939 to Harold Wheeler and Nellie Anderson Jones. At eleven she moved with her family to a farm in Heron, Montana. Marietta loved life in Montana and it was there that she developed her capacity for hard work. At seventeen she graduated with honors from Noxon High School.
In July of 1956 she married Kenneth Goforth. They were blessed with four daughters. While raising her family they lived in several states; Montana, California, Nevada, Colorado and Washington. Marietta and Kenneth were later divorced.
Marietta was a faithful member of the L.D.S. Church and served in all its auxiliaries. She happily served two family history missions, Atlanta, Georgia and St. Louis, Missouri). She also spent many hours in humanitarian service.
She will be remembered for her cooking skills. She used them in her home, in restaurants and in public and private schools. She was also a wonderful seamstress and many were recipients of her handy work.
Marietta was a woman of great faith; she had a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She met every challenge in life with great courage and concern for those around her. Her family was her greatest treasure and everyone, without exception, loved her. She always had a smile, open arms and an open kitchen.
Marietta is survived by her daughters; Cindy (Dick) Morris, Spanish Fork, UT, Debora (Lee) Eades, Lowell, IN, Cheryl (James) Ashworth, Orem, UT, and Julie (Brad) McKinley, Meridian, ID. Nine grandchildren, Shoshana, Toby, Callie, Jodi, Jamie, Tyler, Kayla, Brant, Brooke and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by four siblings; Ruth (Jack) Batchler, Pleasant Grove, UT, Carl (Vicki) Jones, Heron, MT, Norma (David) White, Provo, UT, and Marvin Jones, Salt Lake City, UT. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy, and sister-in-law Linda (Marvin) Jones.
Marietta will be missed by her family including many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Others that she loved and will miss her are Kenneth Goforth, his siblings and extended family.
The family would like to thank the kind care givers at the Orem Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hospice and others who so lovingly cared for Marietta for almost three years. We all feel blessed that even in her suffering Marietta strengthened those around her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 1450 North 800 West in Orem. There will be a viewing held at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
