Margaret Woods Peay passed away peacefully on April 15, 2009.
She was born on a beautiful Sunday morning October 3, 1916, in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Berton Woods and Myrtle Elizabeth Perry.
She married Horace Edward Peay on July 2, 1941, in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1998. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker, but she also worked in various secretarial positions. She was blessed with a "green thumb".
Margaret was an active, life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She held both ward and stake positions in the auxiliaries of the Church since the age of sixteen. She loved the gospel. She was known for her writing of family histories and wants to thank everyone who has been so willing to share their time and talents to help her with those histories. Due to their help, she has eight family histories typed, printed, bound, and delivered. Five or six more are almost completed. She is most grateful for your help.
She is also grateful to the many young men (and older ones, too) who served her each Sunday so faithfully for many years. She and her daughters are also grateful to great neighbors and ward members who have so lovingly and unselfishly helped.
She has been lovingly cared for by her daughter Elizabeth Ann the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Elmo and Berton and their wives, and her son in law Robert W. Whitman.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Ann of Mapleton and Mary Margaret Whitman of American Fork. She has four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Mapleton 8th Ward Chapel, 1200 N. 1000 W., Mapleton where there will be a viewing held from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
