1960~2014
M. Lamont Knudsen of Springville passed away on March 9
th
, 2014, at the age of 53. He waged a valiant campaign against brain cancer for more than three years.
Lamont was born August 22, 1960, to Marvin Knudsen and Theo Elaine "Teddye" Mason. He was raised in Kirkland, New Mexico, and graduated from Kirkland Central High School in 1978. Lamont attended BYU, majoring in engineering where he met his wife, Janice White. They were married in the Jordan River Temple in September of 1987 and have been married for 26 years.
Lamont later graduated from the University of Utah, with a BS degree in Materials Science Engineering. He went on to have a career in the water/wastewater industry, contributing much to the development of equipment used in that community.
Lamont loved the Savior and had a strong testimony of the atonement. He enjoyed genealogical work and had a remarkable memory for church history. He served in many callings for the LDS church, but his favorite was anything related to genealogy. As a Boy Scout merit badge counselor, he helped many boys receive their Eagle rank.
Lamont is survived by his wife and three children, Mallory, Aleska, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Margaret; three sisters, Susan (Doug) Echols, Beryl (Steve) Townes, Marlaine (Jim) Tobin; and two brothers, Terry (Terri) and Neal (Mercedes). Lamont leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved and influenced for good. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. at 950 S. 1700 E. in Springville. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
