Lynn Oman

1938 - 2025

Lila Lynn Oman, 86, of Mapleton, Utah, passed away on February 26, 2025. She was born on June 11, 1938 in Roosevelt, Utah, to Alice Lucile Bleazard and Ray Oman. She grew up on a ranch in Boneta, Utah, with her four siblings: Wilma, Orlan, her twin Lyle, and Lonnie. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1956. She often talked about the hard work of ranching: hauling water, milking cows, stomping hay, and other farm chores.

After high school Lynn moved to Southern California and lived with her Aunt Rhoda before sharing an apartment with friends. She had a number of jobs in Los Angeles: bank teller, secretary at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, Latin dance instructor at the Joe Lanza dance studio, and modeling for several agencies. She lived at the prestigious 1220 Sunset Plaza Drive in Beverly Hills for nearly 20 years. She was very proud of her first car, a red 1965 Mustang convertible.

In 1977 Lynn moved to Salt Lake and lived on Prospector Drive at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. She was there for nearly 40 years and loved entertaining. She worked in retail sales at ZCMI, and later as a sales agent for Blackhawk Realty.

In 2019 she moved to Mapleton to be closer to her brother Lonnie and his family. Lynn was everyone’s favorite aunt; she attended ball games, recitals, and birthday parties, always bringing her excitement and enthusiasm.

Lynn loved beautiful things, especially if they were gold, glittery, pink, or purple. She had a talented eye for fashion, clothing, jewelry, and home décor. She was a gifted gardener and turned her yard into a showplace filled with the most beautiful flowers. She loved returning to Altamont to help her mother in the floral, riding horses and visiting Moon Lake in the Uintah Mountains. She loved traveling; before age 30 she had traveled around the world visiting dozens of exotic countries. She loved her white Persian cat Lizzie and her Shih Tzu dog Chloe. Chloe was her comfort and joy for many years.

While studying Come Follow Me lessons from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Lonnie and Rixa, she gained a strong testimony of the gospel and the desire to go through the temple. On July 3, 2024 she went through the Payson Utah Temple, surrounded by family and friends. The joy that she felt there was incredibly sweet.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Wilma Clark (John), her brother Lonnie, her sisters-in-law LaWana and Janet, her nephew Dain, and her niece Jenny.

She is survived by her brothers Orlan Oman of Altamont, Utah, and Lyle Oman of Boneta, Utah, and sister-in-law Rixa Oman of Mapleton, Utah.

Memorial services will be on Friday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center in Altamont, Utah. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Altamont-Mount Emmons Cemetery.
