Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Lucile Elizabeth Christensen Smart, age 93, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Springville March 19, 2008. Lucile was born April 7, 1914 in Salem, Utah to James Peter and Effie Ann Stone Christensen. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilbur Jay Smart, May 22, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lucile was a life-long, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker. Her many talents included photography, contesting, family history, and missionary work. She and her husband served as Kolob Stake missionaries from 1954-1956 and as proselyting missionaries from 1976-1978 in Ohio and West Virginia. Through her efforts over 30 people joined the Church. Lucile was an angel to legions bringing love, understanding, and inspired guidance to family and friends.
Lucile is survived by four sons, Merrill J. Smart (Effie), Springville; James L. Smart (Irene), Orem; Milo C. Smart (Claudia), Lehi; Wayne W. Smart (Deanna), Goshen, Indiana; and 2 daughters; Virginia S. Wheeler (Allan), Springville; and Colleen S. Richards (Lynn), Ogden; and by one brother, Wallace S. Christensen (Phyllis), Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Lucile's posterity includes 6 children, 39 grandchildren; 107 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, at the Kolob 12th Ward, 1627 West Cadbury (1200 South), Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held on Easter Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, and also Monday, one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery.
