Louis (Bud) Schardine, died March 21, at age 89, after a long, good life. He was born Aug 6th, 1921 in Miami Township, Ohio, son of George and Hattie Smith Schardine, the youngest of eight children. He moved many times as he was growing up, but lived mostly in southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana. He joined the U.S. Marines and served in the South Pacific in World War II.
He attended Miami of Ohio and BYU. He married Shirley May Carter, Dec. 16th, 1950 and has made his home in Springville. He was employed at US Geneva Steel, worked there until he retired in 1983. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1986 and served in many aspects.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Linda Schardine (St. Maries, Id), Coral (Coke) Dansie, 2 sons, Rex Schardine (Indianola, UT), Chris Schardine (Murray, UT), 12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and one due in Aug.
Bud was very active in community service projects, he was in the Jaycees, Boys Baseball programs, from being many coaches, to President of the Pony League, Political Party Chairman, was named Springville's outstanding man in 1956 and artist of life in 1959. He received several service awards from the Elks, Kiwanis, Boy's Base�ball, Horseshoe Pitchers Association, was number one three years in a row of the senior Horseshoe pitchers, and won many, many trophies over the years.
Bud was a person who loved and served his family, friends and community. Those who knew him are aware of his many acts of service and to know Bud, is to know he will never be forgotten....
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville. There will be a viewing held at the mortuary Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
