Lois J. S. Murdock, 88, of Mapleton, Utah, died February 4, 2024 after a long fulfilling life. Born April 9, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William Gladstone Scott and Blanche Annetta Reading. Lois attended schools in Idaho Falls and spent summers helping on the family dry-farm in Antelope, Idaho. She later graduated from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education. Lois taught in the Bonneville School District in Idaho Falls until she was called to serve a mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1958. After returning home, she taught school in the Granite School District in Salt Lake City. She married Thomas J. “Pete” Murdock from Heber City, Utah in 1961.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Murdock; four children: Val Murdock, Cheri Murdock, Terrie Iverson (Hal) and McRay Murdock (Katrina); and six grandchildren: Alec Iverson, Jena Iverson, Mackenzy Murdock, Brig Murdock, Jackson Murdock and Hunter Murdock.
Lois enjoyed serving in church callings. She served as a YW president, a member of a writing committee for LDS Church lesson manuals, a ward Relief Society President and a Stake Relief Society President. Lois and Tom served together in the Portugal Porto Mission from 1997 to 1999. Lois also worked for several years in the Mapleton City, UT, mayor’s office.
Lois was an avid reader, speed walker, farmer, loving wife, caring mother and grandmother (aka “Num”) and over all superwoman. She will be missed greatly by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton 15th Ward, 1215 North 1000 West in Mapleton. There will be a visitation at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mapleton Cemetery.
