Lily Wiest Kunz

December 29, 1925 — October 29, 2015

Lily Wiest Kunz, 89, of Salt Lake City, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Springville, Utah. She was born December 29, 1925 in Hansa Humbold, Santa Catarina, Brazil, to Albert Wiest and Franziska Kiermayr Wiest. She is survived by two sons; Warren Floyd Kunz (Cheri), and Jeffrey Kent Kunz (Mary); 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Lily was preceded in death by her former husband, McKay Heber Kunz and by her son, Bryan Albert Kunz.

Lily was raised in Brazil and moved to Utah as a young adult, living most of her life in Bountiful and Salt Lake City, Utah. She worked for the LDS Church in the Genealogical Department for 30 years and was a valuable resource as a translator because of her fluency in several languages. She was active in the LDS Church and served faithfully in her callings. She served many people in different capacities throughout her life. She served during the World War II years making relief kits for the people of Europe. She served many years in the scouting program. She served as a translator and friend to those who needed her help. She set a good example to her family of faithfulness, hard work, self-reliance, perseverance, and determination throughout her life.

Lily actively served others in need until health no longer permitted. Then others served her, and we are very grateful to those of you who watched over and gave service to her. We will always remember her good example and her strength. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Salt Lake City Eighth Ward, 270 East 500 South, with a visitation from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  Burial will be at Memorial Estates, Salt Lake City, Utah.
