Lewis John Teuscher, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother left his earthy home and entered eternity on Thursday, June 2, 2016. He was born on November 27, 1953 the first child of Lewis and Glenda Teuscher. John grew up in the one stoplight town of Montpelier, Idaho where he attended Bear Lake High School. He threw elbows on the basketball court, rode helmetless on his motorbike, hunting all manner of critters above M mountain, and swimming in the cool, blue waters of his beloved Bear Lake.
John was proud of his Eagle Scout accomplishments and to be a member of the Order of the Arrow. After surviving the classroom and his teacher/father’s ever watchful eye (“Juneau the capital of Alaska?”), John served an honorable and full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in sunny southern California. Upon return from his mission, John met his wife and eternal companion, Caryn, on the hardwood, ballroom floors of Brigham Young University. A romantic, bliss-filled courtship soon followed and the young couple was sealed for time and eternity in the Provo Temple on November 19, 1976. With degree in hand, John took his young family to the heat of Houston, Texas and then on to the hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later, with a bigger family and many memories made, he packed up the minivan and made the trek across the US to Ogden, Utah and then eventually to Spanish Fork, Utah.
Throughout his engineering career, John was a proud part of several medical device patents and saw many projects through to production. His attention to detail and relationships that he made were hallmarks to his work ethic. An active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, John served in a variety of callings in the LDS church throughout his life, including Sunday school teacher, secretary, and home teacher. He was most often found sitting in the bleachers or on the sidelines supporting his children and grandchildren during their athletic contests and many activities. His family was his top priority in his life and he looked forward to the next time they could all meet together again whether it was at a birthday party, a pumpkin hayride or relaxing on the beach of Bear Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Caryn, and children John David (Kristy), Matthew William (Austin), Nathan Andrew (Anne), Amy Camille, 10 grandchildren, brothers Bruce, Lynn, Wayne, and James, sisters Cathy and Mary, and his mother. He was preceded in death by his father, and his brother Larry.
A viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, UT from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 7. Funeral services will be at 11 am at the LDS chapel on 353 East 400 North in Spanish Fork, UT. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. To express condolences visit www.wheelermortuaries.com.
In lieu of flowers, John would have liked for you to take your family out to your favorite restaurant and enjoy your time spent together.
