Leslee Henson Rasmussen, 67, of Sandy, Utah, passed away Monday, Feb 20, 2023 after a courageous and graceful battle with breast and liver cancer. She was born August 4th, 1955 in Provo, Utah to Don Bird and Colleen Thatcher. She married her high school sweetheart, David Henson on May 16, 1975 in the Manti temple. They had 3 children: Haley (Aaron) Warner of Santa Clara, Utah, Blake (Kass) Henson of Mesa, AZ and Lindsey (Tyson) Mackay of Santa Clara, UT. David passed away March 4, 2013. Leslee married Cory Rasmussen on Jan 27, 2017 and he loved, supported and cared for her every day.
Leslee grew up in Springville, Utah and graduated from Springville High School. She was a member of the GAA (girls athletic association) involved in cheerleading, tennis, volleyball and softball, and was crowned Miss Springville. She worked for Provo City and also helped run the family business Bird Storage for many years. Dave and Leslee retired to St. George to a full and happy life of golfing, running, biking, friends, youth sports games & grandchildren.
Leslee was a faithful lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Travel and Service was her absolute passion and she changed lives in every corner of the world from Africa to Peru to Nepal. Leslee also spent hours serving in the temple and on family history, and loved sharing that work with her children & grandchildren. She had a competitive spirit… which led her to be an avid athlete competing in many races, marathons, triathlons and tournaments. She brought home the gold medal in pickleball 4 months ago at the Huntsman World Senior Games.
Leslee loved being surrounded by family, friends and neighbors. She was her grandkids #1 fan and supported them in everything they were involved In. Sleepovers, lunch dates, fishing and shopping trips were regular activities with grandma. Leslee lived life to the absolute fullest and made everyone she met feel important. Her smile lit up the room and laughing was one of her favorite pastimes. Her warm, kind-hearted, and friendly nature helped her develop many lifelong relationships. She was genuinely interested in everyone she met and treated each person with love and respect.
Leslee is survived by her husband Cory, her 3 children, 3 stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, her mother, stepfather, mother-in-law, 4 siblings and countless other in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave, father Don, sister Cindy and father-in-law Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 4th, at the LDS Chapel located at 2379 Riverbottom Road, Springville, Utah. Friends may visit at the church Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM prior to services. Interment, Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
