Leo Arnold Thomsen

April 28, 1936 — February 11, 2010

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Leo Arnold Thomsen, 73, passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2010 at UVRMC.



He was born on April 28, 1936, in Aarhus, Denmark to Henry and Anna Thomsen. He immigrated to the USA when he was 16 years old.



He married Evelyn Robins in the Salt Lake Temple on November 22, 1968. They have 5 children. Leo and Evelyn have lived in Mapleton for 38 years.



He received a BA in chemistry and a Master of Public Administration from BYU. He worked as a laboratory manager at Lakeview Hospital, Salt Lake Regional Medical Center and Jordan Valley Hospital. He served in the Army Reserve for many years and retired as a lieutenant colonel.



Leo loved living in Mapleton and served on the planning commission for nine years.



He served faithfully in many LDS Church callings including Bishop. He also worked in the Provo Temple. He dearly loved the people he served and served with. He loved being a grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren.



He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 41 years; his children: Valerie (Jason) Durrant, Teresa (Troy) Beebe, Dana (Josh) Chappell, Brian (Cari) Thomsen, Jeffrey (Kellie) Thomsen and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Birthe (Robert) Clay of Panaca, NV, Kirsten (Richard) Bokhonko of Aarhus, Denmark, and his favorite mother-in-law, Margaret Robins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.



He is loved by many and will be missed.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Mapleton Stake Center at 970 North 400 East in Mapleton. There will be a viewing held at the Stake Center on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
