Leida Ruth Call Anderson

July 10, 1920 — March 22, 2009

We rejoice that our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother has finally finished the last battle she had to fight and can now rest, secure in the fact that her children have taken her place in the Saviors ranks and labor to uphold the truths she so diligently taught us.

Like many who were raised during the Great Depression, our mother learned to work hard, to be frugal, to respect proper authority, to live rightly, and to love God and country. We are thankful that she pressed us to develop these values as well; what a blessing it is to be raised by a valiant, righteous woman. She wore out her body in the service of her family and our Lord.

Mother was a near fanatic when it came to sports. The cougar football team never had a more devoted or enthusiastic fan and woe be unto anyone who ever spoke ill of any BYU football player.

Mother was blessed with many talents and abilities which she worked hard to develop into vehicles of service for others but the greatest of all her gifts, apparent at an early age, was music. She had an award winning voice that earned her many opportunities to star in a variety of venues. She became a highly respected choir director as well, and this led to her forming and directing the choir for the Boise temple dedication.

Widowed for twenty years, mother at last is with her sweetheart, Jay Mason Anderson. He would want us to say that she could fry chicken better than anyone.

Our brave, sweet mother brought out the best in us because she was the best of us. Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Parents: Ruben Call and Mona Dabling Call. Children: Saundra (Alfred) Phelps, Joanne (Barry) Burton, Gary (Molly) Anderson and James (Diane) Anderson.
