Larry John Simmons, 70, of Mapleton, Utah passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Provo, Utah from a short illness. He was born October 27, 1941 in Mapleton, Utah to John Hallam and Rhoda Hatfield Simmons.
Larry attended schools in Mapleton and Springville, graduating from Springville High School. He served in the Air Force for 4 years and also worked at Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe for a time. He was an Elder in the LDS Church and loved to do indexing. Larry lovingly cared for his mother during the last years of her life. He liked to "tinker" and could often be found in the garden.
He is survived by one sister, Elaine (Ray) Mecham, one brother, Michael (Sheryl) Simmons and many nieces and nephews that he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cleo Molyneaux.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Mapleton North Stake Center, 475 N 1600 W, Mapleton, UT. Friends may call Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center, prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion.
