Lamar "Pete" Leland Averett
March 23, 1922 — August 12, 2017
Our loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his son's house in Payson on August 12th, 2017 at the age of 95.
He was born March 23rd, 1922 in Springville, son of Thomas and Bessie Averett.
He attended school in Springville and joined the Navy in 1942 where he served in WWII until 1945.
He married his sweetheart LaVina Whiting December 28th 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple, October 31st 1964.
He is survived by, Vickie (Scott) Killpack, Diane (Doug) Armour, Clair (Tammy) Averett, Debbie (Priam) Young, 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings: Harold Averett, Leona Wilson, Clyde Averett and Beth Larsen.
Funeral services will be August 16th, 2017 at 11:00 am, Mapleton church 1050 N. 300 W. Viewing Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, and Wednesday at the church 10:00 -10:45 am.
Interment with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
