1920~2013
Klea Merritt Curtis passed away peacefully at her home in Springville surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.
Klea was born on April 12, 1920 in Alunite, Utah to Martin and Charlotte Merritt. She grew up in Thistle, Utah and graduated from Springville High School in 1938.
Klea married her sweetheart John Jack Curtis on February 27, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo, Utah LDS temple on June 8,1972. Jack passed away October 11, 1993.
Klea worked for the Nebo school District as a baker in the school lunch program until her retirement in 1983. Traveling, crocheting and reading were some of her hobbies. Klea was a devoted visiting teacher and loved her "little ladies" at Canterbury. Klea looked forward to her lunches each day with her special friend, Louise. Spending time with her family, especially on Sunday evenings, was her greatest joy.
She is loved and survived by eight children Phil and Connie Curtis, Springville; Charlotte and Dee Thatcher, Mapleton; Steve and Vicky Curtis, Springville; Robert Curtis, Salt Lake City; Brent Curtis, Springville; Paul and Marian Curtis, Santaquin; Clark and Paula Curtis, Springville, Ray and Ann Bartholomew, Springville; 32 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren (with 3 more to arrive in April).
Klea was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Marty and Maxine and one granddaughter, Jammie Curtis Fraughton.
Her family would like to thank Carma Karsten and Maple Creek Hospice for their kind and compassionate care and all her many neighbors and friends for their love and friendship.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Springville 2

Ward, 1785 East 400 South, Springville, UT. Friends may call on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, and Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
