Kenneth Biggs Giles, age 84, of Springville, Utah, died on December 31, 2016. He was born in Springville, Utah on August 28, 1932 as part of a large family to James Albert Giles and Ellen Biggs Teasdale Giles. In 1951 he graduated from Springville High and from 1952 to 1954 served a LDS mission to the Great Lakes mission. On June 6, 1956, he married Zella Wilmott in the Salt Lake LDS temple and was blessed with two children, Kenneth Lynn and Teresa Ann.
Ken lived his entire life in Springville where he worked as a technician at the Springville Fish Hatchery often taking his children on long deliveries of fish to lakes and streams throughout the region. He was an avid sports fan and particularly loved following the BYU Cougars. He took pride in his yard and enjoyed being a handy man around the house. Squeaky hinges and dripping faucets were never a friend to Ken.
Ken is survived by his wife Zella; daughter, Teresa Ann (Kevin) Daugherty of Logan; daughter-in-law, Janis Giles of Pleasant Grove; brothers: Max (Shirley) and Marlin (Mary); grandchildren: KC, Mathew, Christopher, Lyndsie, Taralynne, Roni; and 6 great-grandchildren: Arianna, Makanna, Cassandra, Marshall, Brylee, Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lynn; brothers: Earl, Wilbert, Melvin Teasdale: and sisters: Ruth Diamond, Amy Murdock, Bernese Bartholomew and Edith Miner.
Following Ken’s wishes, graveside services will be held Friday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Historic Springville City Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South Springville UT, on Friday morning, January 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
