Kathleen Jo Evans

October 6, 1950 — August 17, 2023

Springville, UT

Last December, Katheen’s abdominal PEComas became untreatable. After five months on hospice care, she peacefully passed away on the morning of August 17th with her son holding her hand.

With the help of neighbors, friends, and family Kathy was able to remain living at home with a measure of independence until she was called home to heaven. We thank all those who served her, especially during these final months.

Kathleen Jo Langdon was born on December 6, 1950 to Thelma Irene Watson and Robert Ebenezer Langdon.  She and her younger brother Mike grew up in Northern California.

While attending Sierra College, Kathleen was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She was baptized on May 1, 1971.  Kathy then attended BYU where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Home Economics in August 1973.

In 1985, Kathleen was called to serve a mission in the Dominican Republic. After her missionary service she moved to Fillmore, Utah where she taught home economics at the junior high school.  In Fillmore she met Rodney Lyle Evans and they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on June 15, 1990. They have two sons, Eric Lyle Evans and Scott Lee Evans.

In 1994 Kathleen graduated from BYU with a Masters Degree in Education.  After completing an alternate route to licensure in 2007, she taught 3rd grade Language Arts at Brookside Elementary until her retirement in 2017. Rod passed away on March 28, 2018.

Kathy liked sewing, BYU football, travel, mornings, reading and listening to the rain while sitting on her porch. She “won” Jeopardy nearly every night. Kathy spent her life in service of her family and community. She was unfailingly kind to everyone she met and loved giving gifts and planning surprises. Kathy always had time for a walk with a friend or to play with her grandsons. Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with family, especially watching her sons together.

Our family finds peace at this time in the knowledge that we have been sealed together for eternity and that Kathy is now reunited with her husband Rodney on the other side of the veil.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Eric (Tami) and Scott (Hyesuhn) and five grandsons, Matthew, Eli, Langdon, Hezekiah, and Owen.
