Karen Bushnell Washburn

November 27, 1966 — April 15, 2011

After a courageous two year battle with leukemia, Karen Bushnell Washburn passed away on April 15, 2011. Karen was born on November 27, 1966 to Stanley Wardell and Colleen Bushnell. She was the fourth of five children, and the only daughter. She married Brian McKay Washburn on March 9, 1989 in the Jordan River Temple. Karen was raised in Mapleton, and graduated from Springville High School, where she was head of the D'Velles Drill Team. She graduated from Utah Valley State College with an Associates Degree in Business Management. Karen was an active member of the LDS Church serving in the Primary and Young Women's organizations. Her greatest joy was her family, and raising her children. Karen worked for Central Bank for 25 years, where she worked as a teller, loan secretary, new accounts secretary, and as an Internal Auditor. She loved Central Bank, and the people she worked with.



Karen is survived by her husband Brian McKay Washburn, her daughter Jessica Karen Washburn, and her son Tyler McKay Washburn. She is also survived by her father, Stanley Wardell Bushnell, brothers, Gary (Debbie), Kevin, Greg, and Scott (Heather). Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Colleen Bushnell. Her family would like to thank everyone at Central Bank, the doctors and staff at LDS Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic, and the members of the Springcreek 15th Ward for their unwavering love and support throughout her illness.



Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the Spring Creek Stake Center at 760 North 400 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and Friday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
