Karen Baker

Karen Savage Baker, 64, of Orem, Utah, died Monday, August 13, 2007 at her home. She was born on June 2, 1943, in Springville, Utah to Frank LeRoy and Laurine Maag Savage.



Karen grew up in Springville where she met her high school sweetheart John. They were married in May of 1963 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in September of 2004. Shortly after the arrival of their son, Todd they moved to Virginia where they spent 2 years before coming back to Utah.



Karen worked 30 years at UDOT as a permits officer and retired in 2000. Karen enjoyed being a Grandma and was a very fun and loving grandma. She was a wonderful creative person who enjoyed knitting and sewing. She loved making things for people especially her grandgirls, for whom she made dresses, Barbie clothes and doll clothes.



Karen enjoyed golfing and camping. She received much joy from their dog "Max". Karen was active in the LDS church where she was a Primary counselor and Achievement Day Leader. Karen was very caring and was always there to lend a hand. She was a very special lady and will be missed.



She is survived by her husband, John; son, Todd (Cindy); 3 granddaughters: Maddie, Ally and Brooke; 5 sisters: Dianne (Tom) Abbott; Susan (Gary) Mercer; Lori (Bruce) Pickard; Paula (Clark) Curtis and Michelle (John) DeHaas; 4 brothers: Wesley (Renae) Savage; Michael (Cindy) Savage; Conrad (Keri) Savage and Richard (Liz) Savage; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank LeRoy and Laurine Maag Savage.



Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Aspen Stake Center, 965 West 2000 North, Orem, UT. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, UT or Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
