Bud Johnson passed away October 5, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Bud was born January 17, 1928, in Springville, Utah, to Delbert and Essie Mae Johnson.  He married Lucille Barker on January 22, 1951, in the Manti Temple.

He attended schools in Springville and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served faithfully in many various callings and served as scoutmaster in his ward for many years.  He helped many young boys become men, many of whom became Eagle Scouts.

Bud was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa.  His family brought him his greatest joy in life!  He loved spending time with his family camping, 4-wheeling, boating, and enjoying time together at their family cabin.

At seventeen, Bud joined the U.S. Merchant Marines and served there for about six months.  After six months, he joined the Army, Airborne Division.  He did basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, then went to jump school at Fort Benning in Georgia.

He was then called to serve at the end of World Ward II in Sendai, Japan, where he served from 1946-1948.  Bud belonged to the 674th parachute field artillery battalion, 11th airborne division.  During his service he made over 30 jumps.  He also served as a weapon carrier in the motor pool in Japan.

He is survived by his boys: Brent D. Johnson, Springville; Kirk (Jessica) Johnson, Duchesne; Greg (Janet) Johnson, Mapleton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Barker Johnson; and a son, Kim Johnson; his parents; and all of his siblings.

The family would like to express their many thanks to Bud's wonderful Hospice and VA caregivers, and all his family members who have cared for him the past few years.  We appreciate their care and love.

A viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville on Thursday, October 12th, from 6-8 p.m.  There will be a viewing prior to the services on Friday, October 13th, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Kolob Stake Center, 555 Averett Avenue, Springville, Utah, with the funeral services following at 12:00 p.m.
