John Thomas “JT” Morgan, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020, after a two year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. He was born in Price, Utah on November 23, 1957.
John grew up in Provo and Orem, Utah. He graduated from Orem High in 1976. He was a member of the Pipefitters, Welders, and Plumbers Union, as well as a member of The Knights of Columbus. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis Catholic Church. JT was a successful and hardworking man. He dedicated many years to working in the Oil Refinery Industry—working in Texas, Utah and Canada. He also dedicated time working at Geneva Steel.
JT had a knack for building, as evident in the homes he built in both Salem and Heber. He could fix or build just about anything. He had a passion for learning, absorbed all that he could, including learning the latest technology. In the last 10 years of his life, JT was a Day Trader in the Stock Market.
JT is preceded in death by his mother Anita Guzman Gutierrez Morgan, and his sister Elizabeth (Liz) Chorniak. He is survived by his father, David William Morgan, daughters, Miranda Hoffman, and Crystal Sorenson, life partner Deborah Hone, grandchildren Gavin Hoffman and Vivian Hoffman, siblings David Morgan, Tamara Morgan, William Morgan, Charles Morgan, and many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and family, to include the numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in San Antonio, Texas—with his final dying wish being to spend the remainder of his life with his family there. He will be greatly missed.
A service for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 11th at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 east 200 South in Springville. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m.
A Mass service will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 65 West 500 North in Orem. Interment will be at Lindon City Cemetery.
