John Charles Kammerman, born January 17, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011. He is survived by his loving spouse, JoAn, his children Beverly McNeece (Daniel), Eric (Michele), Michael, Aaron (Patricia), Jill Gifford (Andrew), Rebecca Adams (Nathanael), and Stephen; sister Sharon Himmer and brothers Keith (Donna), Gene (Carol), and Jerry (Ann); 34 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Calton and Irene Kammerman, his son Joseph and granddaughter Emily.
John served as an LDS missionary in Switzerland, earned a Political Science degree from Brigham Young University, worked as a Special Agent in the FBI for 23 years, and after retirement earned a Doctoral degree from Hawthorne University in Criminal Law. His favorite church callings included teaching in various capacities, missionary work, working in the bishopric, but most especially home teaching. He had a special love for his families and always went the extra mile to serve them.
John's strength of character, integrity, and pure charity affected all who knew him. He believed in doing something simply because "it is the right thing to do." Although he is gone, his legacy of faith, optimism, hard work, humility, and good humor will remain. Though the world may see a poor man, we see a man rich with love of God and family. Though the world may see weakness, we see power beyond measure. Though the world may see an ordinary man, we see an extraordinary one.
Until our joyful reunion, we will miss you dearly, our sweet husband, father, brother, uncle, Papa and friend.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and other professionals at the University of Utah Medical Center for all their care, concern and efforts on Dad's behalf.
