John “Johnny” Lewis Bleggi beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother peacefully passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024. He was born on October 29, 1942, to Mary Canto and Lewis Bleggi. He was raised in Mapleton where he spent his entire life. He loved all of his “Old Town” Mapleton friends; they were truly an extension of his family.
Johnny lived a good life, he loved his family, farming, and raising sheep. He was known by many kids in the neighborhood as “Grandpa Johnny” and they loved to visit him on the farm. Not only did he run his farm, but he also worked at Geneva Steel and then at the Utah State Prison where he retired.
Johnny married Diana Sturman and they raised two children together, Nicky and Mark. He also has three amazing grandchildren, whom he adored and loved spending time with, Jake, Kaycie and Riley. He loved to take Jake fishing and spent a lot of time teasing and making Kaycie and Riley laugh. He loved his dogs, Winston, Perry Winkel, Luna and Lilly and you could often find him walking them down 1200 North.
We were so lucky to have Johnny with us and we will always remember his shy, quiet, calm character. He always had a way of lightening up your soul. He loved to help those around him whenever they needed him.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Diana; children, Nicky and Mark (Angie); and grandchildren, Jake, Kaycie and Riley. His siblings Glenda (Larry) Bringhurst and Don (Heidi) Bleggi. Along with his amazing 1200 North family. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patsy Flygare and brother-in-law Howard Flygare.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Ashford Assisted Living and First Choice Hospice who gave compassionate care to Johnny over the last few weeks.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah, at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life party at his childhood home (Mark and Angie Bleggi’s home), 455 E 1200 N, Mapleton. All are welcome and if you would like, please bring your favorite Italian dish to share.
It is Johnny’s request that in lieu of flowers, please donate to an Animal Rescue/Humane Society or your local FFA. Thank you Johnny for teaching us how to be a kind hearted and loving human. We love you and know that your spirit will be with us always.
