Joan (Christensen) Hair

On Monday, June 26, our sweet mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the age of 88.

Joan was born June 3, 1935, in Spanish Fork, Utah to William Christensen and Thelma Francis.  She married her sweetheart Earl Hair (who happened to live across the street) on June 28, 1955, in the Salt Lake City Temple.  He preceded her in death on June 17, 2002.

Joan graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1953.  Her first job was at Commercial Bank. She also worked for First Security Bank. She spent many years teaching her love of the piano to many others.  She worked at Spanish Fork Clinic for 17 years.  Joan is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served diligently in many areas of leadership positions.  She spent many years sharing her talent for playing piano and organ.

Joan never had idle hands!  She loved baking yummy treats and cooking delicious meals. She loved crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting. Her family has many creations that they will always treasure. She loved to read and always had a book handy. She kept up a gorgeous yard and enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed accompanying many singing groups.  Joan’s favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends!

Joan is survived by her children, Ron (Julie) Hair, Phil (Brooke) Hair, Elyse (Tracy) Haviland, Camille Petersen; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren; her brother Bob (Marcia) Christensen. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Hair; her parents; her 3 brothers; and 2 great grandsons.

By our mother’s request there will be a graveside service held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:30a.m. at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
