In Loving Memory of Jimmy Hatfield
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jimmy Hatfield, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jimmy was born on October 18, 1927, in Springville, Utah, and he peacefully left this world on August 12, 2023. He was 95 years old.
Jimmy's life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. On December 23, 1950, he married the love of his life, Ruth O'Brien, in a joyful ceremony in Spanish Fork, Utah. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment.
Born and raised in Springville, Jimmy attended school there and established deep roots within the community. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and drew strength from his faith throughout his life.
Professionally, Jimmy made his mark as a skilled brick mason and contractor. His dedication to his craft was evident in the numerous structures he helped bring to life, leaving a lasting legacy that will be admired for generations to come.
Outside of work, Jimmy was a man of diverse interests. He found solace in the quiet moments spent farming the land, and the thrill of the hunt and the joy of fishing were passions that brought him closer to nature. Jimmy enjoyed traveling in his later years and he often shared captivating stories from his journeys, accompanied by pictures taken by his son, Shawn.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Shawn, who will carry forward the lessons of integrity, and hard work that his father imparted. Additionally, he leaves behind a cherished grandson, Bryce (Kimberly) Hatfield, two great grandchildren, Emily and Michael, brothers Doyle (Linda) Hatfield, Fred Hatfield (Lindsay), and Blake (Verilyn) Hatfield, and sisters Lorraine (Ross) Steffens, Marie Snelson, and Sharon (Ross) Vanleuven.
While our hearts ache with the void left by his passing, we find solace in the knowledge that Jimmy is now reunited with his beloved wife, Ruth, as well as his three brothers, son Jimmy Lee, and daughters Laurie Ann and Gay Lynne, who preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at Eagle Rock Church at 825 Hawks Rest Dr, Mapleton, Utah 84664 at 11 am on August 18th. There will be viewings at the church the evening prior from 7 pm to 9 pm and one hour prior to the services on August 18th. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor his memory, sharing stories that capture the essence of his remarkable life. He will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
Jimmy Hatfield touched the lives of many with his kindness, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to family and community. He will be forever missed and remembered with love.
