It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Jerry Keith Batley, who passed away on April 30, 2024, just three days after celebrating his 77th birthday.
Jerry was born on April 27, 1947, to Keith and Elaine Batley, he was the oldest of 5 kids and spent his childhood exploring the foothills of Provo, fostering a deep love for adventure. He attended Provo High School, where he excelled in track and baseball before continuing his education at the College of Southern Utah. There he became a proud member of the Zeta fraternity, where camaraderie and partying often overshadowed academic pursuits.
After college, Jerry joined the family business, Batley Plumbing and Heating, where he worked alongside his father and later his son, contributing to its success as a staple in Utah County for about 75 years.
He married Patricia Wilberg, and together they welcomed three children into the world; Kennya, Nicole, and Derrick. Despite the joys of their family life, their marriage eventually ended in divorce. Jerry then remarried, but this marriage also ended in divorce. However, it was with Norma that Jerry found his forever partner, sharing a bond that transcended all the joys and trials life threw at them.
Jerry's interests were as diverse as his character. He found joy in boating on Lake Powell, camping, hunting, riding motorcycles, horseback riding, golfing, tennis and lastly, his RZR Side by Side. In his younger days, he was known as "Six Pack" on the CB radios, and he had a fondness for Budweiser, Screwdrivers, and Marlboro cigarettes. He was typically the life of the party, with crazy antics and daredevil stunts.
Throughout his life, Jerry was deeply involved in various clubs and organizations, including being a lifetime member at the Provo Elks Lodge, ATA Trapshooters, Gents Club, BACA, and Springville Rotary. His passion for trapshooting led him to serve as president three times and vice president, and he held positions on the board of directors for most of his shooting career. Jerry was also an officer of the Utah State Trapshooting Hall of Fame and the 2022 Chairshooter Champion, sponsoring numerous events and always lending a helping hand to the club when needed.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Norma, daughters Kennya Jarvis (Dennis), Nicole Adams (Ron), and son Derrick Batley (Monica), stepsons Gary Nell (Nikki) and Robert Nell (Michelle); grandchildren- Marché Brown (Anthony), Braxton Jasper, Kyler and Kayden Booth, Kennedy Jarvis, Brooke Storey (Tate), Maci Nell, Carter Nell; and great-granddaughters Amelia, Hazel and Emerson Brown. His four sisters- Carole Brodie, Beverly Paxman, Vera Peterson and Miriam Campbell. He also leaves behind many cherished step-grandkids, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his infectious laughter, and his boundless love for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
