Jane B. Nickeson (Brock), 82, formerly of Springville, UT, died of complications from a stroke on December 28, 2009 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana.
Born Wilma Jane Blythe on May 3, 1927, in Etowah, N.C., she was raised and attended school in Hendersonville, N.C. She had a variety of jobs in her early adult years, but spent most of her time in the food service business, including many years for IHC at the hospital in Logan and at UVRMC in Provo.
Although Jane was beset by many trials and some tragedies, she always maintained her abiding faith in a loving and merciful God. Her faith was greatly broadened and deepened since her baptism in 1972, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was filled with service to others, including two missions for her church. Jane left this world a better place for having lived in it.
The three greatest joys in her life were her family (children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren), her church activities and her husband, Calvin Nickeson.
Jane is survived by her husband, Calvin Nickeson; daughters DeVonne (Dale) Allred of Woodland Hills, Utah, Sandi Caulboy of Provo, Utah, and Carol Brock of Bend, Ore.; a son, Vernon Brock of San Jose, Calif.; stepdaughters Debbie (Dan) Smith of Pleasanton, Calif., and Jewel (Michael) Stockman of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Olan (Joyce) Blythe of Columbia Falls, Mont.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands and fathers of her children, Ken Smith and Ralph Brock; and a son, Timothy Brock.
Her viewing and funeral service will take place on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, UT. Viewing is from 10:45-11:45 a.m. and the service at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
