James Brian Harvey
October 30, 1952- November 25, 2023
James “Jim” Brian Harvey, born on October 30, 1952, departed peacefully from this world on November 25, 2023 in Springville, Utah, after a valiant battle with metastatic uveal melanoma.
Jim was known for his infectious humor, quick wit, and boundless creativity. His ability to make others laugh is a trait that won’t easily be forgotten. Jim’s boisterous, bellowing laugh will echo through our happiest memories of him.
Jim was especially proud of Fantasy Flight, his traveling video production business of 25+ years. Jim brought joy to children and adults as he created lasting video keepsakes of people flying like a superhero, flying on a magic carpet, racing in a grand prix in a toy Volkswagon convertible and delivering presents for Santa in his sleigh. These digital memories were made for families to enjoy for years. This family business employed all of the Harveys during the summer fair season and allowed them to travel to some of the biggest county and state fairs in the country like Orange County Fair, 50th State Fair, California State Fair, Texas State Fair, Arizona State Fair and many, many more.
Other notable life accomplishments include graduating from Brigham Young University in Business Marketing, and serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas South, at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah and the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii. Jim was also the Pacific Region Manager of See’s Candies stores headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii and was the Century21 Realtor of the Year (1988) in Hawaii and Washington.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents H Darwin Harvey, Jr. and Lou Rae Stevens, his brother David Harvey, and his beloved dogs Bob and Jack. He is survived by his wife May Harvey, children Stacy Wood (Sam), Mathew Harvey (Hikari), and Sarah Harvey, five grandchildren Aurora Wood, Phi Phi Wood, Darwin Wood, Liam Harvey, and Nolan Harvey, and two younger sisters Lisa Tso (Albert) and Diana Vega.
Please join the Harvey family in remembering Jim at a casual memorial open house on Saturday, December 9 from 3 PM - 5 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2557 Dalton Dr, Springville, UT 84663.
The Harvey family extends a deep, heart-felt mahalo to the medical professionals of the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), Utah Valley Medical Center (Provo, UT) and other medical offices for their excellent care and compassion toward Jim and May during Jim’s cancer journey.
In lieu of flowers, the Harveys encourage donations to be made to the Mayo Clinic who went above and beyond for Jim and May.
