James Elden Greenhalgh

A Legend Has Passed Away



James Elden Greenhalgh (Chick), age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Delta, Utah, surrounded by his family. He was born to James William Greenhalgh & Ida Tew, on Oct. 17, 1918 in Santaquin, Utah. He married his sweetheart, Wanda C. Jensen in the Manti Temple on Dec. 23 1938. They were married 53 years and had 6 children. Wanda died Feb. 2, 1991. He later married Kathyrn Marlin Jones.



Chick was a very hard worker who was admired for his skill and work ethic. He was the best in the industry at operating heavy equipment. He worked at Kigley Quarry, Utah County Road Department, and several construction companies. He loved his family, the outdoors, his horses, and his garden. He loved to laugh and tease and sing. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all his life. He was a Temple worker in Provo with his wife Wanda.



He is survived by his wife Kathyrn and his 6 children: Patsy (David) Johnson, Cleveland, UT; Kathleen (Jim) Crook, Santaquin, UT; Leila (Larry) Houser, Payson, UT; Velda (Don) Hancock, Tooele, UT; Boyd (Nancy) Greenhalgh, Price, UT; and Susan (Pete) Madsen, Delta, UT; also 4 step children: Terry (Shauna) Jones, Santaquin, UT; Michael (Sigrid) Jones, Tigard, OR; Kim (Penny) Jones, Milwaukie, OR; and Kathy (Eric) Hyde, Belgrade Serbia; 3 sisters: Darlene Fowkes, Mona, UT; Marie (Pete) Peterson, LaVerkin, UT; and Colleen Wilson, Payson, UT. Combined they have 35 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, and 1 grandson.



Funeral services will be held in the Delta 6th Ward at 120 South Whitesage Ave. Delta, Utah at 10 AM on Fri. Dec.2, 2011. A viewing will be held Thur. Dec. 1, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the LDS Chapel at 90 S. 200 E., Santaquin, UT and prior to services from 8:45 to 9:45 in Delta.



Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Santaquin City Cemetery, Santaquin, Utah.
