Obituary for James (Jim) Leslie Diamond
Our precious father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend, James Leslie Diamond passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 98 on Wednesday December 21, 2016.
Jim was born on August 3, 1918 to Sarah Mann and Earl Vaughn Diamond in Springville.  He was the second oldest in a family of 8 children. Jim married Ruth Giles on August 31, 1938 and enjoyed 68 years together before she passed away in 2006.
He was a lifelong stockman who led a full life. In his younger years, he worked as a rodeo clown touring the rodeo circuit with Lulu Bell and Rosebud his mules. He worked for Childs Ranches for many years. He also was a range rider for the Cattleman’s Association for over 30 years. Jim was happiest out riding the range on his horse with his dog by his side and shared his love of the outdoors with anyone that would join him.  He had a flock of Suffolk’s Sheep that were his pride and joy. Jim was still riding at the age of 96. He kept himself busy with his horses, chickens and dogs. He was a man of few words but what he did say was important.
Jim enjoyed reading any western novel he could get his hands on and loved to watch his sports. At night, you could find him by his fire watching the latest game.
He is survived by his three children, James (Florence) Diamond, Carolyn D Shepherd, and Larry (Mary) Diamond.  Fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S. in Springville.  There will be a viewing held at the mortuary on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the services.  Condolences may be sent to www.wheelermortuaries.com
