Jacquelyn Kay Billings

December 20, 1938 — December 19, 2024

Springville

Christmas was her favorite time of the year. After completing and delivering all of her gifts, Jackie Billings passed away peacefully on 12/19/2024.

Jackie was born on December 20, 1938 to Margaret and Dean Ewing. She was the first of five children. One of her most prized childhood memories was the day she hid from her mother and skipped school to meet her dad when he came home from the war. She was in first grade.

After graduating from high school, she attended Utah State and graduated with a degree in elementary education. After marrying Fenton Billings in 1960, Jackie taught school at Timpanogos Elementary School. When her first child, Richard, was born, she stopped teaching to stay home and raise her children. She spent infinite hours being present and supporting her children in their varied interests and activities.

Jackie loved life and spent her life in service. She worked as a “volunteer” for the City of Springville for many years, writing and implementing an emergency preparedness plan for the entire city. In the initial planning for the 2002 Olympics in SLC, she was tasked with being part of the security detail. This was, of course, scrapped after 9/11 when the FBI took over all security details.

Jackie served in various capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Those who had the privilege of interacting with her came to appreciate and love her consistent compassion and empathy, and her unlimited capacity for listening. She also co-organized, planned and raised funds for a “super” youth activity in her ward which consisted of taking 40 youth to the Cumorah Pageant and subsequent tour of church historical sites.

Jackie is survived by her six children: Richard, Annette, Sherylyn, Elizabeth, Scott and Christopher; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her three remaining siblings: Den, Mardeen and Kaelyn.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 860 East 200 North, Springville, Utah. Viewings for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Home, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, December 23 before the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
