Helen Carlson, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, slipped peacefully from her earthly existence into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on October 30, 2011. Helen was born on October 22, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Freda Teske and was adopted by Kathryn Teske and Robert Raymond. She married Herbert Carlson in 1938. The marriage produced 3 children. After her divorce in 1954, she went to work at General Mills where she worked to support her family until her retirement in 1982.
Helen was friendly, gracious and charming. Her life was filled with friendships. She had a sense of fun about her and, wherever she was, there was a lot of laughter. She was charitable and caring and always looking out for ways that she could contribute to the happiness and success of others, particularly her family members. She was a great mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor, aunt and sister and was loved by everyone who knew her. Although she was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she was the matriarch of a large, faithful, LDS family. She supported many grandchildren missionaries and was proud that she has a posterity that lives faithful, clean, lives and who love the Lord and are dedicated to his service.
Helen's life was filled with challenges which she always met with grace and fortitude. Late in her life she developed memory problems. Although her mind became compromised, she remained a charming and exciting person who had a way of lighting up a room. Her dynamic personality and her love for her family were unchangeable constants of her character and her personality.
Helen is survived by 3 children and their spouses: Celeste (Sue) and Darrell Bennett, Kathryn and John Charles, and John and Mary Carlson. She had 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
