Harriett Miner Strong

Harriett Miner Strong, 95, died peacefully at her home in Springville on November 14, 2011 of causes incident to age. She was much loved and will be missed by many.



Harriett was born March 22, 1916. She was the middle of five children born to Floyd Lee and Margaret Amelia Johnson Miner. She was a graduate of Brigham Young University. On October 26, 1938 she married Ernest Albert (Bert) Strong, Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of seven children and their posterity now numbers over 100.



She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings over the years. She was a temple worker for many years, and with her husband served a mission to Fiji.



Harriett is survived by five of her seven children: Suzanne Wiscombe, Mary Stewart, Katie Callister (John), Roslyn Averett (Kenneth), and Daryl Strong; a son-in-law, LeGrande Boyer; a foster son, Glenn Taylor; 29 grandchildren 70 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and his wife: Richard Miner (Helen); and by two sisters-in-law, Lucille Peterson and Annalee Strong.



She was preceded in death by her husband Bert (March 17, 1990), her son Don and his wife Sydna Strong, her daughter Nancy Boyer, her son-in-law Jim Wiscombe, two granddaughters and a great-grandson, and by three of her siblings: Lee Miner, Lamar Miner, and Evelyn Boyer.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19th, at the Hobble Creek Thirteenth Ward, 555 S. 600 E., Springville at 11:00. Friends and family may call Friday evening, November 18th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville, and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
