Harold Lewis Bartlett of Springville, passed away on November 12, 2012 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, from meningitis. He was 97 years old.

Harold was born in Rush Township, Shiawassee, Michigan, March 9, 1915, to Lewis G. and Jennie Bartlett. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in August, 1937 and served a mission in 1938 in the North Central States Mission. While he was serving there he was able to teach his family the gospel and baptize them. He married Ann Larsen on January 30, 1942 in the Logan Temple. They raised their family in Newton and Springville, Utah.

Harold received his Masters Degree from Utah State University and moved to Springville to begin teaching. During part of his career he taught high school for 14 years. He was Principal of Springville High School for 10 years, and he spent time in Egypt and Israel studying education systems. He concluded his career retiring from Nebo School District in 1980.

He was active in the LDS church and served in many positions including serving as Bishop, as a Seventy, and on the High Council. He served a mission with his wife to the Ohio Cleveland Mission from 1981 to 1983 and worked in the Provo Temple for many years. Harold loved yard work, history, traveling, the arts, and was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a great counselor to his family and set a lasting example.

Harold is survived by three children: Reed (Afton) Bartlett, Kearns, UT; Robert Bartlett, Newton, UT; and Ruth (Tracy) Dauwalder, Springville, UT; 26 grand children, and 52 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; two sons, Alan and Lynn; one daughter, Joanne; both of his sisters and his brother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, at 11 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center located at 555 South 600 East (Averett Avenue), Springville, UT. Friends may call Friday, November 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville or Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
