Hal Chamberlain Brinkerhoff, age 89 of Mapleton, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Hal was born September 27, 1924 to Bert and Leola Brinkerhoff in Orderville, Utah. He married Kathryn Lambson March 24, 1946 in Ely, Nevada and they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple.

Hal grew up in Junction, Utah and attended Piute High School. He joined the Navy C-B's in 1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Hal enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the riding club and serving in the American Legion. He also enjoyed working with wood. When Hal retired from Geneva Steel in 1986 he and Kathy were able to travel the world. They went to fun places like China, Russia, New Zealand, Scotland and many more. Hal was involved in community service with the Mapleton Planning Commission and many callings within the LDS Church. Family was Hal's greatest joy and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn and children: Karla (David) Wheeler, Leslie Giles (Larry, deceased), and Brad (Heidi) Brinkerhoff; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Eloise Forsythe and one sister-in-law, Pat Brinkerhoff. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Audrey, Geraldine, LaRee and two brothers, Douglas and Carvel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton Stake Center, 970 North 400 East, Mapleton. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North, Mapleton and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
