Gwen Reid Hartley

Gwen Reid Hartley passed away October 5, 2008 at the Utah Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family.



She was born January 15, 1930, in Panguitch, UT to Omar H. and Cecil Prince Reid. She married Edward G. Jones together they had seven children and later divorced.



She then married Gordon B. Hartley in the St. George temple. He was her companion for 39 years. Gwen was employed at U.V.S.C. for 23 years. After retirement she and Gordon served two LDS missions in England after which they moved to Hurricane, UT and lived there for 13 years. She loved to travel and play her organ. She loved and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She held several church callings including Relief Society President and Primary callings.



Gwen is survived by her husband Gordon and six children, Ronald (Bernie) Jones, Price, UT; Roger (Diane) Jones, Benjamin, UT; Mark (Ilene) Jones, St. George, UT; Karen (Marvin) Kovatch; Spanish Fork, UT; Kent Jones, Springville: Floyd (Tracey) Jones, Payson, UT, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren; one brother Arthur (Nina) Reid, two sisters, Lois (Kay) Frost, and Kathy (Stan) Robinson. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son Alan Jones, and one sister, Veda Welch.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Fifth Ward Chapel, 245 S 600 E, Springville, UT. A viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, Thursday, October 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
