Glenna Hatfield, born to William Palfreyman and Mattie Thorn, on November 4, 1923 in Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully surround by members of her family on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from complications of pneumonia.
Glenna was born and raised in Springville, Utah where she met and married Koyle Hatfield on February 20, 1943. They moved to Northern Idaho, where they raised their seven children and worked hard building their logging company. After 30 years they sold the business and moved back to Utah.
She was an active member of the LDS church and served in many positions. Koyle and Glenna served in the Adam Ondi Ahman mission together. After their mission they were able to move back to Springville which made her very happy. The last few years of her life, she spent in Perry, Utah. They did genealogy and extraction work for the church and loved to attend the temple. She had strong testimony of the Gospel and often talked about the tender mercies of the Lord in her life.
She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting hats and afghans for her great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. She spent many hours making quilts for the Humanitarian Center and was a member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers.
She is survived by her seven children: Karl (Janice), Kathleen, (Frank) Hanks, David, (Kathy), Fred (Jody), William (Trudy), Brenda (Russ) DeJong, Douglas (Rhonda); 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Koyle, Parents: William Palfreyman, Mattie Thorn; her sisters: Betty Lou Palfreyman and Taska Palfreyman; her brother, W. Russell Palfreyman; one grandson, Davey, and one granddaughter, Michelle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Kolob Stake Center at 1230 South 500 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
